Catholic Teachers Gathering

The program properly began at 4:30pm with introductions; besides introducing themselves, each person had to finish the statement: ‘I enjoy being a teacher because…’. Most of them said that they did it for the children. But there were also interesting tales as some shared how they became teachers. Bishop Paul Tan then addressed the group

Next, Deacon Adrian shared some points from a talk given by Pope Francis to teachers. A teacher’s role is not just to pass information but to build up values in their students.

The Q&A session was an opportunity for the teachers to share their frustrations and challenges working in our Malaysian context. The teachers wanted to know the Church’s response and directions

  1. About the future of mission schools
  2. The inability of students and teachers to attend Mass on Sunday especially on Easter which is no longer the weekend
  3. To become an official body
