Opening and Blessing HOPE – A Community Home
Initiated by His Lordship, Bishop Bernard Paul in 2017, H.O.P.E., which stands for Hosting Occupants Pursue Excellence, currently hosts two occupants with another coming in soon, and supervised by a Vincentian, Anthony Tan. Located in Taman Muhibbah, Klebang Besar, H.O.P.E. is a mission centre at the doorsteps of the Klebang Besar BEC, parishes of St Theresa, St Francis Xavier and St Mary. The Board of Management works with the Prison Ministry of Melaka.
“As baptised, we are called for mission,” Bishop Bernard said in his speech, “we are called to be good news not just for the people living here but also for everyone.”
“We are also called to make a difference, to touch a life,” as His Lordship concludes his statement, “thirdly, we need to ‘turun padang’. We always have to get down and see what is happening around us.”
The ceremony then proceeded with the blessing of the home and the unveiling of the plaque. A longan fruit tree was also planted by the Bishop, as a commemoration of the event. The ceremony ended with a fellowship among the attendees.
